Hey Mackerel! I have a question. Me and couple other people on reddit create QR Code games for Homebrewed 3DS and we'd like to ask if its ok if we make your Death Planet game into a QR code to post on our subreddit. We will for sure credit you in the post and also post a link to this page so people can donate to you! Let us know if its ok!
Sure, go ahead!
How do you apply the color palette?
With mgba and the online game, the colors are not the same of the provided screenshots
To show the colors properly, the emulator must be able to run the game in GBC mode (and correctly implement the bios). Unfortunately, I think most emulators will run this game in original gameboy mode by default. I recommend using "sameboy" where you can easily select GBC from the menus.
Cheers
Thanks for he feedback
mgba supports using the alternate color palette, I’ve also tested it myself with other games; see for example here https://github.com/mgba-emu/mgba/issues/2161
But you are right, with sameboy it seems to work.
this really reminds me of star fox... I like what you did with the music. and the plane looks pretty good. maybe if it was 3d it would be better? just a thought.
I'm having a great time with this game.
I really like the stark but upbeat visuals, the addictive gameplay, the distinctly modern chiptune music (sounds similar to VVVVVV, which is certainly a good thing), and the "no tutorial, long intro, filler, fluff; let's go!" pacing.
I'm playing this on a modern emulation handheld (running retroarch for the backend), and have found that it looks great with the 'normal2x' video filter, paired with the CRT scanlines shader, and the preconfigured GBC color palette (shown in the screenshots). I'm also playing with analog stick instead of D-pad, authenticity be damned.
It's great, thanks for making it!
"move along , Nothing to see here", great game!
